This verse in the King James

King James wording
Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,

The LORD’s word reaches Samuel as an uncovering of his hearing, revealing that perception can open through what is removed.

The LORD speaks before Saul is visible; the disclosure comes before the arrival. The verse speaks to you now in the image of hearing that opens before what is hidden comes into view. What is received is uncovered, not manufactured.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It dissolves the belief that clarity comes only by accumulating more information: here the decisive change is the uncovering of hearing.

גָּלָה

gālāh

GROWS FROM

גלה

To uncover, disclose, or make visible.

“uncovered the ear of Samuel” in this verse is gālāh. The Hebrew phrase is literally that the LORD uncovered Samuel’s ear. The word presents disclosure as the lifting of a covering, so the hearing is opened before Saul arrives.

ALSO GROWS

gilluy: Revelation or disclosure.

גִּלּוּי

It carries the same uncovering into the noun for what is disclosed.

niglah: Is revealed or becomes visible.

נִגְלָה

This form shows the other side of the same root: what is hidden comes into view.

Perception opens when a covering is removed, allowing what is already present to be seen or heard.

And Elisha prayed and said, LORD, I pray you, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and look, the mountain was filled with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 Kings 6:17 · SDVThe young man sees what is already around him when his eyes are opened.
And their eyes were thrown open, and they recognized him, and he became unseen to them.
Luke 24:31 · SDVRecognition comes as their eyes open to the presence already with them.
But whenever it turns to the LORD, the covering is lifted off.
2 Corinthians 3:16 · SDVThe veil’s removal makes perception possible.
Behold, I will bring to it mending and healing, and I will heal them, and I will uncover for them the abundance of wholeness and truth.
Jeremiah 33:6 · SDV

The Hebrew verb translated “reveal” here shares the root ⁨גלה⁩ (galah, uncover) with the uncovering of Samuel’s ear. In both verses, revelation brings what was hidden into view, here, the abundance of wholeness and truth.
