THE MEANING
The verse presents shared sacred time as a way the whole people becomes visible together. The congregation reaches from Hamath to the river of Egypt: distance does not erase its togetherness.

THE PATTERN
Shared sacred time gathers people across household and regional boundaries into one assembly.
And you will guard it until the fourteenth day of this same month; then all the gathering of the assembly of Israel will slaughter it between the two evenings.Three times in a year all your males shall be seen before the face of the LORD your God in the place he will choose, at the feast of unsoured bread, at the feast of weeks, and at the feast of booths. They shall not be seen before the face of the LORD empty. And there were Jews settled in Jerusalem, devout men, from every nation under heaven.THE THREAD
Assemble the people, the men, the women, and the little ones, and the sojourner within your gates, so that they may hear and respond, and so that they may learn, and be struck with awe of the LORD your God, and guard to do all the words of this instruction;“Gather” here is הַקְהֵל (haqhel), “assemble,” from the same root קהל (q-h-l) as “congregation” in the current verse. Deuteronomy names who belongs in the assembly; 2 Chronicles shows that gathered people spanning the land.
