This verse in the King James

King James wording
Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD, and until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was perfected.

The same Hebrew root says the work was “prepared” and names the house’s “foundation”: what is established at the beginning carries the work toward wholeness.

You meet completion as wholeness: a work’s established foundation and its finished form belong to one continuous whole. The house of the LORD stands complete when the work is carried through to its end.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

A finished work is only its final moment; this verse holds its foundation and completion together as parts of one whole.

הוּסְדָה

husdah

GROWS FROM

יסד

To establish, set in place, or lay a foundation.

“prepared / foundation” in this verse is husdah. The word rendered “prepared” and the word rendered “foundation” grow from the same root. The work is established toward the foundation and carried through to completion: its readiness is bound to what it is built upon.

ALSO GROWS

yasad: To establish or lay a foundation.

יָסַד

It makes clear that the work’s preparation is an act of establishing, not merely getting ready.

yesod: Foundation or basis.

יְסוֹד

This is the base that gives the established work its direction and support.

שָׁלֵם

shalem

GROWS FROM

שלם

To be whole, complete, or sound.

“Perfected” carries the sense of a work made whole, not only a task brought to its last moment. The same root gives shalom, “wholeness,” so completion and wholeness share a seed.

ALSO GROWS

shalom: Wholeness, well-being, peace.

שָׁלוֹם

It reveals that the house’s completion belongs to the same word-family as wholeness.

shillem: To make good, repay, or restore what is due.

שִׁלֵּם

This branch also carries the sense of bringing something to a complete state by making good what is owed.

A work becomes whole when its foundation and its completion belong to one continuous act of establishment.

The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will also finish it, and you will perceive that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
Zechariah 4:9 · SDVThe hands that establish the house’s foundation are also the hands that bring it to completion.
Being confident of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will finish it until the day of Jesus the Anointed One.
Philippians 1:6 · SDVA work begun in you is carried forward toward its completion.
The LORD finishes what concerns me; your faithful love, O LORD, endures for the ages; do not let the works of your hands drop.
Psalm 138:8 · SDVThe work concerning you is brought to its fullness by the LORD.
Ask for the wholeness of Jerusalem; those who love you are at ease.
Psalm 122:6 · SDV

The house is called ⁨שָׁלֵם⁩ (shalem), whole; Psalm 122 names Jerusalem’s peace as ⁨שָׁלוֹם⁩ (shalom), from the same root. The finished house and the city’s wholeness echo one another in Hebrew.
