King James wording
King James Version
While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.THE KEY
While Peter is still turning the vision over, the breath speaks the next thing already happening: three men are seeking him.
THE MEANING
When what you have seen is still turning in your mind, the Breath speaks within that unfinished attention. Its word is concrete: three people are seeking you, and the inner vision opens onto an encounter already in motion.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
The verse loosens the belief that understanding must be complete before the next word can arrive: the breath speaks while Peter is still pondering.
THE ROOT
πνεῦμα
pneuma
GROWS FROM
πνε- (pne-), from πνέω (pneō)
To breathe or blow; πνεῦμα (pneuma) means breath.
The KJV’s “Spirit” is πνεῦμα (pneuma, breath), from the family of πνέω (pneō, to breathe or blow). Voice and breath remain joined in the word: while a vision is still being considered, breath speaks a concrete encounter into view.
ALSO GROWS
pneō: Breathe, blow
πνέω
The verb beneath the verse’s word for breath links speaking with the movement of breath.
pnoē: Breath, blowing
πνοή
This related noun makes the breath connection explicit; Acts 17:25 uses it for the breath given to all.
THE PATTERN
Breath meets unfinished attention with speech that opens perception toward a concrete encounter.
And breath entered into me as he spoke to me, and made me stand upon my feet, and I heard the one speaking to me.Then the Breath said to Philip, Go near, and cling to this chariot. But when he comes, the breath of truth, he will lead you along the way into all truth. For he will not speak from himself, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will bring word back to you of the coming things.THE THREAD
Then the Breath said to Philip, Go near, and cling to this chariot. Both verses name the speaker with πνεῦμα (pneuma, breath). Here the breath announces that three men seek Peter; there it directs Philip toward a waiting chariot, showing the same speaking breath meeting awareness with the next encounter.
