King James wording
King James Version
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:THE KEY
Praise here has a body: the crowd sees restored movement alongside honor given to God.
THE MEANING
When life moves again in you, praise is not confined to an idea; it can rise alongside what your body is able to do. The verse holds visible movement and praise together, making restoration something others can witness as well as something you know.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
God is honored only by private words or inward feeling; here, bodily movement stands in the same public scene as praise.
THE ROOT
περιπατοῦντα
peripatounta
GROWS FROM
πατέω
pateō
The verbal base means to tread or walk; in περιπατέω (peripateō, walk about), περί (peri, around/about) shapes it as walking about.
This is a body literally walking, and the same verb can describe the course of a life. The Greek lets restored steps carry a larger picture of a life moving again.
ALSO GROWS
pateō: Tread, trample, or walk.
πατέω
It keeps the image concrete: the man’s praise is joined to actual steps, not only an inward state.
peripateō: Walk about; also walk as a way of life.
περιπατέω
This same verb can name literal movement and a life’s course; here, the body’s walk makes that wider sense visible.
THE PATTERN
Restoration becomes visible in the body and turns into praise that witnesses can share.
He sets a new song in my mouth, praise to our God. Many see and stand in awe, and lean their weight upon the LORD.Then the limping one leaps like a hart, and the tongue of the mute rings out. For waters split open in the wilderness, and streams in the desert plain. And at once he rose up before them, and lifted up what he had lain upon, and went away to his house, giving weight to God.THE THREAD
And I say, walk in the breath, and you will not complete the craving of the flesh. The same verb, περιπατέω (peripateō, walk), describes physical steps here and a way of life in Galatians. The link lets the healed body’s movement open into the larger image of a life walking in the breath.
