This verse in the King James

King James wording
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

The hidden does not have to disappear before it is known: even what lies in darkness is already within the reach of the light that dwells with God.

What feels buried or impossible to name in your life is still within God’s knowing. The light is not absent from that depth; it dwells with him, and he reveals what is concealed.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the belief that what remains hidden in your darkness is therefore beyond God’s knowing.

גָּלֵא

galē

GROWS FROM

גלה

To uncover or reveal.

“uncovers” in this verse is galē. Daniel’s Aramaic word for revealing shares the root ⁨גלה⁩ (galah, to uncover or reveal) with Hebrew forms for what has been opened or disclosed. Revelation here is an uncovering: what was concealed is brought into view, while the verse also says it is already known in darkness.

ALSO GROWS

gilluy: Disclosure, revelation.

גִּלּוּי

A disclosure is what has been uncovered; the branch keeps revelation tied to the removal of what concealed it.

galuy: Uncovered, open, exposed.

גָּלוּי

This names the state after a covering comes away, echoing the passage’s movement from secret things to revelation.

מְסַתְּרָתָא

mesattərātā

GROWS FROM

סתר

To hide or conceal.

“secret” in this verse is mesattərātā. The verse sets the language of uncovering beside a word from the root for hiding. What is hidden is not outside God’s knowing: the darkness holds what he already knows, and the concealed can be revealed.

ALSO GROWS

sēter: A hiding place; something concealed.

סֵתֶר

The same root names a place of concealment and the secret things the verse says God reveals.

histir: To hide or conceal.

הִסְתִּיר

This verb makes the concealed quality active; the verse says even what is hidden remains known.

What is concealed remains within God’s knowing, and what is hidden can be brought into the light.

The hidden things belong to the LORD our God, but the uncovered things belong to us and to our children for the ages, that we may do all the words of this instruction.
Deuteronomy 29:29 · SDVThe verse distinguishes what remains hidden from what is revealed while placing both within the LORD’s care.
Even darkness does not darken from you; the night lights up like day, and darkness is as light to you.
Psalm 139:12 · SDVDarkness does not conceal anything from God, and night is no barrier to his seeing.
Therefore, judge nothing before its season, until the Lord comes, who will light up the hidden things of darkness, and will make visible the plans of the hearts. And then the praise will come to each one from God.
1 Corinthians 4:5 · SDVThe hidden things of darkness are brought into the light, including what is held in the heart.
He uncovers the depths out of darkness, and brings out to light the deepest darkness.
Job 12:22 · SDV

Job’s ⁨מְגַלֶּה⁩ (megalleh, uncovers or reveals) shares the root ⁨גלה⁩ (galah, to uncover or reveal) with Daniel’s Aramaic ⁨גָּלֵא⁩ (galē, reveals). Job pictures the same uncovering: what darkness holds is brought into the light.
