King James wording
King James Version
And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;THE KEY
The love that reaches behind you to choose your future also brings you out of constriction while keeping you before God’s face.
THE MEANING
Your life is not an afterthought: love reaches through those before you and chooses what comes after, then draws you out of constriction by its own great power. The KJV says you are brought out “in his sight”, before his face, so release does not make you unseen. The movement out begins in love and stays within presence.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
It undoes the fear that being brought out leaves you unseen or alone: the departure happens before God’s face and by God’s power.
THE ROOT
אָהַב
ahav
GROWS FROM
אָהַב
To love, to hold affection for.
“loved” in this verse is ahav. “Because” makes love the cause: the choosing and bringing out grow from a love already present. The descendants do not create that love as a reward; it reaches them through the generations.
ALSO GROWS
ahavah: Love or affection.
אַהֲבָה
The noun names the force this verse places behind the choice and the release.
ahuv: One who is loved.
אָהוּב
The branch shows the loved one as the recipient of a love that precedes their own action.
מִצְרַיִם
Mitzrayim
GROWS FROM
צ־ר־ר
To bind or press in; the related צַר (tsar) means narrow, and מֵצַר (metsar) means a strait or narrow place. Mitzrayim carries the image of the two narrows.
“Egypt” in this verse is Mitzrayim. The place-name gives the verse’s departure a shape: this is movement out of constriction. The exodus is a passage from what presses in toward room to emerge.
ALSO GROWS
tsar: Narrow, tight, or constricted.
צַר
It gives the place being left an image of compression rather than just a point on a map.
tsarah: Distress, trouble, or a tight situation.
צָרָה
This branch links constriction with the distress from which the verse’s movement leads out.
וַיּוֹצִאֲךָ
vayyotsi'akha
GROWS FROM
י־צ־א
To go out or emerge; in this verb’s causative form, to bring someone out.
“brought thee out” in this verse is vayyotsi'akha. The verb makes the release active: God brings you out, and you emerge from the place that held you. This movement is the verse’s answer to the narrowness named in Mitzrayim.
ALSO GROWS
yetzi'ah: A departure or going forth.
יְצִיאָה
It names the passage out as a movement, not merely a change in how the place is described.
motsa: A way out or point of departure.
מוֹצָא
This branch echoes the opening made for someone to emerge from constriction.
THE PATTERN
Love moves first: it chooses, brings people out of constriction, and opens a way toward life beyond it.
But because the LORD loved you, and because he would guard the oath he had sworn to your fathers, the LORD brought you out with a gripping hand and ransomed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And I have come down to snatch them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land into a good and wide land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. In this the love of God was made visible among us, for God has sent his only begotten Son into the world, so that we might live through him.THE THREAD
But because the LORD loved you, and because he would guard the oath he had sworn to your fathers, the LORD brought you out with a gripping hand and ransomed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. This verse repeats the roots אהב (ahav, love) and יצא (yatsa, go out) found in Deuteronomy 4:37. It makes their bond plain: the love named as the cause becomes the power that brings the people out.
