This verse in the King James

King James wording
And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.

The table and lamp are deliberately placed on the veil’s near side, making provision and light present before the hidden boundary.

Your approach to what is hidden is not an empty interval: provision is set outside the veil, with light opposite it. The boundary remains, and nourishment and illumination already occupy the space before it.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It dissolves the belief that the space before a sacred boundary is empty of provision: the table and lamp are already there.

שֻׁלְחָן

shulchan

GROWS FROM

שלח

shalach

To send, release, or stretch out the hand.

The table’s name echoes the language of sending and extending provision. Here, nourishment is set out in the room before the veil, with the lamp opposite it.

ALSO GROWS

shulchan: Table; an extended surface for provision.

שֻׁלְחָן

This is the table set before the veil, so provision occupies the space before the boundary.

shalach: To send, release, or stretch out the hand.

שָׁלַח

Its sense of sending and extending brings out the table as provision made present.

Shiloach: Sent; also the name of the sent waters of Shiloah.

שִׁלֹחַ

The sent waters echo provision moving outward to meet a need.

צָפוֹן

tsafon

GROWS FROM

צפן

tsaphan

To hide, conceal, or store up.

The word for north carries the root sense of what is hidden or stored. The table’s placement on that side lets the verse hold hiddenness and provision together.

ALSO GROWS

tsafon: North; a direction whose name carries the sense of hiddenness.

צָפוֹן

The table is placed on this side of the tabernacle.

tsafun: Hidden, concealed, or stored up.

צָפוּן

This branch echoes the hidden boundary beside which provision is placed.

Provision and light are placed together in the space before the veil, so nearness includes what sustains and illuminates.

And you set upon the table the bread of the face before me always.
Exodus 25:30 · SDVThe bread placed on the table makes the provision in this room continuous.
For with you is the spring of life; in your light we see light.
Psalm 36:9 · SDVLife and light appear together as what sustains and makes seeing possible.
Again then Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; whoever follows me shall never walk in the dark, but shall hold the light of life.
John 8:12 · SDVLight is joined to life, echoing the lamp’s place beside the table of provision.
And you set upon the table the bread of the face before me always.
Exodus 25:30 · SDV

This verse names what the table holds: bread continually set before God. Beside the lampstand here, it shows nourishment and light arranged together just outside the veil.
