This verse in the King James

King James wording
And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves.

Here, being joined does not mean being blended: the five and six remain distinct sets within one design.

Five curtains are joined as one set, and six as another; distinction is built into the making. The verse speaks now of wholeness formed through ordered relation, where connection does not erase the place of each part. The separate counts belong to the structure.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It dissolves the belief that unity requires sameness: the sets are joined while still counted separately.

GROWS FROM

חבר

ḥ-b-r

to join, bind, associate

“joined” in this verse is vayḥabbēr. Beyond fastening, ⁨חָבַר⁩ (ḥābar, to join or associate) also gives words for a companion and a company. The root carries belonging through relation, while the verse still names the curtains as separate groups, so joining preserves their arrangement.

ALSO GROWS

ḥāḇēr: companion, associate

חָבֵר

A companion is joined to another through relation, widening the word beyond a mechanical fastening.

ḥăḇūrāh: company, association

חֲבֻרָה

A company is a group held together without making its members indistinguishable, as with the separately counted curtain sets.

Distinct parts form a shared dwelling or body through joining that preserves their relations.

And you shall make fifty taches of gold, and join the curtains together with the taches; and it shall be one dwelling.
Exodus 26:6 · SDVThe curtains are joined into one tabernacle while remaining distinct pieces.
For as the body is one, and has many limbs, and all the limbs of the body, though many, are one body, so also is the Anointed One.
1 Corinthians 12:12 · SDVThe body is one while its many members remain many.
In whom the whole building, joined at the joints, grows into a set-apart temple in the Lord.
Ephesians 2:21 · SDVThe building becomes a shared dwelling as its parts are fitted together.
And he made fifty clasps of bronze to join the tent together, that it might be one.
Exodus 36:18 · SDV

The next step repeats ⁨חָבַר⁩ (ḥābar, to join) for fastening the tent together, making the endpoint explicit: “that it might be one.” The separate counts are stages in a joining whose completed form is a single tent.
