This verse in the King James

King James wording
So he measured the house, an hundred cubits long; and the separate place, and the building, with the walls thereof, an hundred cubits long;

The space called “separate” is still measured to the house’s full hundred-cubit length, so distinction sits inside the design rather than beyond it.

You stand before a whole in which distinction has shape: the house and its set-apart space share a hundred-cubit length. The building and its walls belong to that measured span. What is marked off remains within the architecture.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the belief that what is separate has been excluded: the verse gives the separate place the same measured length as the house.

גִּזְרָה

gizrah

GROWS FROM

גזר

g-z-r

To cut or divide, making something distinct.

“cut-off place” in this verse is gizrah. The “separate place” is a space made distinct by a boundary. Yet it is measured to the same hundred-cubit length as the house: distinction appears within a shared design.

ALSO GROWS

gazar: To cut or divide.

גָּזַר

This is the root’s basic action; the separate place is a portion distinguished from what surrounds it.

gezerah: A decree or determined decision.

גְּזֵרָה

The word carries the sense of something marked out or determined, echoing how the measured space has a defined place in the structure.

In visions of sacred space, measurement makes boundaries and belonging visible.

And behold, there was a wall outside the house all around, and in the man's hand a measuring reed of six forearms long, by the forearm and a handbreadth. He measured the breadth of the building, one reed, and its rising, one reed.
Ezekiel 40:5 · SDVThe building’s wall, breadth, and height are all given defined measure.
Then I said, Where are you going? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.
Zechariah 2:2 · SDVMeasuring makes the city’s dimensions visible within the vision.
And the one who speaks with me holds a golden reed to measure the city, and its gates, and its wall.
Revelation 21:15 · SDVThe city, gates, and wall all receive measure as parts of one ordered whole.
To him who cuts the Sea of Reeds into parts, for his faithful love reaches to the ages.
Psalm 136:13 · SDV

“Separate place” is gizrah, from ⁨גזר⁩ (g-z-r), “to cut or divide.” Psalm 136:13 uses the same root for dividing the Red sea; here that dividing gives a space its boundary and measured place within the house.
