This verse in the King James

King James wording
The holy portion of the land shall be for the priests the ministers of the sanctuary, which shall come near to minister unto the LORD: and it shall be a place for their houses, and an holy place for the sanctuary.

Here, drawing near to God is given a measured place that includes both a home and a sanctuary.

The verse gives nearness a place: a measured share of land is set apart for those who draw near to serve the LORD. Their houses and the sanctuary belong inside that same allotment, holding daily dwelling and sacred service together.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the idea that sacred service has no place in ordinary dwelling: the allotment includes both their houses and the sanctuary.

Approach to God takes shape in a set-apart place where service and dwelling meet.

And let them make me a set-apart place, that I may pitch my tent among them.
Exodus 25:8 · SDVThe sanctuary gives divine dwelling a place among the people.
But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept the watch of my set-apart place when the children of Israel wandered from me, they shall draw near to me to attend me, and they shall stand before me to bring near to me the fat and the blood, says the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 44:15 · SDVThe priests come near to serve and offer, making approach part of their sanctuary service.
Let us draw near with a true heart in the fullness of trust, our hearts sprinkled from a burdened shared sight, and our bodies bathed in clean waters.
Hebrews 10:22 · SDVDrawing near is expressed through both heart and body, making approach embodied.
But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept the watch of my set-apart place when the children of Israel wandered from me, they shall draw near to me to attend me, and they shall stand before me to bring near to me the fat and the blood, says the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 44:15 · SDV

In 44:15, “come near” and “offer” share the Hebrew root ⁨קרב⁩ (qarav): an offering is a bringing-near. That makes the allotment in 45:4 more than a backdrop; the land itself is shaped around the priests’ work of approach and service.
