This verse in the King James

King James wording
With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house:

The word for “expenses” means what goes out, so rebuilding begins when the king’s stored resources leave the house and enter the work.

Restoration takes physical form here: stones are stacked, fresh timber is laid, and resources leave the king’s house to meet the work. Material provision is part of what makes the structure rise.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It dissolves the belief that sacred rebuilding is purely inward or symbolic: the work includes stone, timber, and funds that actually leave the king’s house.

נפקתא

nifqeta

GROWS FROM

נפק

Aramaic ⁨נפק⁩ (nepaq): to go out, depart, issue forth.

“outgoings” in this verse is nifqeta. The Aramaic noun for “expenses” grows from ⁨נפק⁩, “to go out.” The verse names the costs through their movement away from the source: provision leaves the royal house and becomes stone and timber.

ALSO GROWS

nepaq: to go out; to depart

נְפַק

This verb carries the same consonants ⁨נפק⁩ as the verse’s word for expenses, revealing spending as an outflow from its source.

nephqat: went forth; went out

נֶפְקַת

Daniel 2:13 uses this form for a decree that went forth, showing the same root for something issued from royal authority.

A house takes shape when distinct materials and lives are brought into the work.

And the house, when it was in building, was built of whole stone, made ready before it was brought there, so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house while it was in building.
1 Kings 6:7 · SDVStone is prepared and joined into a structure, making the work concrete and deliberate.
Now I have set firm with all my strength for the house of my God, the gold for things of gold, the silver for things of silver, the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and the wood for things of wood, onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistening stones, and stones of various colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
1 Chronicles 29:2 · SDVThe house takes shape through materials gathered and made available for its construction.
You also, as living stones, are built up into a house of breath, a set-apart priesthood, to carry up sacrifices of breath, well received by God through Jesus, the Anointed One.
1 Peter 2:5 · SDVPeople, like stones fitted together, become part of a shared house.
And the decree went forth that the wise men should be struck down, and they sought Daniel and his companions to be struck down.
Daniel 2:13 · SDV

The Aramaic root ⁨נפק⁩ (nepaq), “go out,” appears in both passages: Ezra uses it for expenses leaving the king’s house, and Daniel for a decree going forth. The same word-shape shows that what issues from authority can become provision, or a death sentence.
