This verse in the King James

King James wording
As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.

A release can be a dispatch: the men move out at dawn, while the purpose of their sending remains concealed.

You can be sent out into the morning with everything you brought while the purpose behind that release remains unseen. The word holds sending forth and release together: leaving a place is real, but it does not yet reveal where the movement leads.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

Being released does not always mean the danger is over.

שֻׁלְּחוּ

shulleḥu

GROWS FROM

שלח

shalach

to send, send forth, or release

The verb translated “sent away” comes from ⁨שׁלח⁩, which can mean both sending forth and releasing. The English phrase sounds like simple departure; the root also leaves open whether the release is freedom, a dispatch, or both.

ALSO GROWS

shaliach: a messenger or agent, one who is sent

שָׁלִיחַ

This branch makes the sending visible in the person who carries it: departure can place someone on a mission.

shilluach: a sending away or dismissal

שִׁלּוּחַ

This branch keeps the sense of release close to the verse, where the men are sent away from the place they occupy.

Release is movement set in motion, carrying what is sent beyond the place that held it.

And afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told the Great House, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may dance a feast to me in the wilderness.
Exodus 5:1 · SDVThe demand “Let my people go” names release directly, as movement out from constriction.
He sends his word and heals them, and slips them free from their pits.
Psalm 107:20 · SDVHere sending carries healing and deliverance toward those caught in destruction.
Then Jesus said to them again, Wholeness be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.
John 20:21 · SDVThe pattern extends from sender to sent: release becomes an outward movement with purpose.
And afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told the Great House, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may dance a feast to me in the wilderness.
Exodus 5:1 · SDV

“Let my people go” uses the same ⁨שׁלח⁩ root as “were sent away” here. In Exodus the word is an explicit demand for release; in Genesis it describes a departure whose purpose is still unseen.
