This verse in the King James

King James wording
Then spake Haggai the LORD’s messenger in the LORD’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

Hebrew frames “I am with you” between “he said” and “saying,” so presence reaches you as spoken assurance.

The LORD’s message names the LORD’s presence directly: “I am with you.” You receive the promise as speech addressed to you, not as a conclusion you must reach from your circumstances.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The belief this dissolves is that you are alone until the work before you is complete.

וַיֹּאמֶר

vayomer

GROWS FROM

אמר

⁨אמר⁩ (ʾāmar): to say, speak, declare.

“spake / saying” in this verse is vayomer. The Hebrew begins with “he said” and returns to the same root in “saying.” The assurance “I am with you” sits inside that repeated act of speech: presence is declared directly, not left for you to infer.

ALSO GROWS

amar: to say; to speak

אָמַר

The verb names the act of speech that opens the verse.

le'mor: saying; to say

לֵאמֹר

This form introduces the quotation, repeating the root just before “I am with you.”

imrah: utterance; saying

אִמְרָה

This noun names a spoken saying, keeping the promise within the same speech-root family.

The divine word makes nearness explicit by speaking it as a direct promise.

And he said, Surely I will be with you, and this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.
Exodus 3:12 · SDVGod’s presence is spoken directly as “I will be with thee.”
Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not look about in dismay, for I am your God. I will grip you, and I will help you, and I will hold you up with the right hand of my alignment.
Isaiah 41:10 · SDVThe declaration “I am with thee” is the ground named for strength and help.
Teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age. Amen.
Matthew 28:20 · SDVThe promise of presence is spoken as an ongoing assurance: “I am with you alway.”
And he said, Surely I will be with you, and this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.
Exodus 3:12 · SDV

Both verses open the assurance with ⁨וַיֹּאמֶר⁩ (vayomer, “and he said”), from ⁨אמר⁩ (ʾāmar, “to say”). One declares “I will be with thee”; the other, “I am with you”, the same speech-root carries the promise of presence.
