This verse in the King James

King James wording
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The Son is both heir of all things and the one through whom the ages themselves are made.

God’s speech reaches you in the Son, appointed to inherit all things. The ages themselves are made through him, so the time you inhabit lies within the scope of that inheritance.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie that God’s voice is absent from your present is met by the verse’s claim that God speaks to us in the Son.

αἰῶνας

aiōnas

GROWS FROM

αἰών

aiōn

An age or span of time; the course of an age.

The Greek word rendered “worlds” also means “ages.” The verse opens the making of the world onto the making of the ages: time’s unfolding, too, comes through the Son.

ALSO GROWS

aiōn: A span or course of time.

αἰών

The singular form makes the temporal sense beneath “worlds” visible.

aiōnios: Belonging to or extending through an age.

αἰώνιος

This related form carries the same age-language into descriptions of what belongs to the ages.

κληρονόμον

klēronomon

GROWS FROM

κληρ-

klēr-

A lot or allotted share.

“heir of all things” in this verse is klēronomon. The Greek word for “heir” carries the sense of receiving an assigned share. All things are appointed to the Son as his inheritance, while the ages themselves are made through him.

ALSO GROWS

klēros: An assigned portion or lot.

κλῆρος

It reveals the language of allotment inside the Son’s inheritance.

klēronomia: A share received as an inheritance.

κληρονομία

This related word names the inheritance that the verse says encompasses all things.

klēronomeō: To receive an allotted share as an inheritance.

κληρονομέω

It keeps the focus on receiving what is assigned, not merely holding a title.

The one who receives all things as inheritance is also the one through whom creation and the ages come to be.

Ask of me, and I give you the nations for your inheritance, and the far edges of the earth as what your hands grasp.
Psalm 2:8 · SDVThe promised son receives the nations and the ends of the earth as his inheritance.
By the word of the LORD the heavens are made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.
Psalm 33:6 · SDVCreation comes into being through God’s word, echoing the Son as the means through whom the ages are made.
For in him all things were created, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, the seen and the unseen, whether seats or lordships or beginnings or authorities; all things have been created through him and toward him.
Colossians 1:16 · SDVAll things are created through the Son and for him, joining origin and inheritance.
By trust we perceive that the ages were fitted together by the word of God, so that what is seen did not come out of what appears.
Hebrews 11:3 · SDV

“Worlds” translates the same Greek word, ⁨αἰῶνας⁩ (aiōnas), as in Hebrews 1:2. Here the ages are framed by God’s word, opening the connection between God’s speech in the Son and the structure of the ages themselves.
