This verse in the King James

King James wording
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

The voice that says “I am with thee” places even the farthest distance within reach of its gathering.

The words meet you in fear with a claim of presence: I am with you. What is scattered across the widest distance remains reachable, and your seed, your offspring, your living continuation, is gathered from both horizons. The verse holds nearness and far-reaching restoration together.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

Distance has made me unreachable; what is scattered cannot be gathered again.

אֲקַבְּצֶךָ

ʾăqabbəṣəḵā

GROWS FROM

קבץ

q-b-ts

To gather, collect, bring together.

The Hebrew verb says “I will gather you”; its root carries the act of drawing scattered things together. East and west name the reach of that gathering, so distance does not put what is scattered beyond reach.

ALSO GROWS

qibbēṣ: He gathered or collected.

קִבֵּץ

The same root makes gathering an active drawing together, the movement promised in this verse.

niqbetzu: They were gathered together.

נִקְבְּצוּ

This form shows the same root describing scattered people brought into one place.

זַרְעֶךָ

zarʿeḵā

GROWS FROM

זרע

z-r-ʿ

To sow; seed.

The word translated “seed” also means offspring. The promise reaches beyond the person addressed to the living continuation carried through them.

ALSO GROWS

zeraʿ: Seed or offspring.

זֶרַע

This is the noun in the verse: what is gathered includes the continuation represented by the seed.

zāraʿ: To sow.

זָרַע

The verb shares the same root, linking seed with what is planted and carried forward.

Presence reaches across distance to gather what has been scattered.

If any of yours are driven away to the outermost edge of heaven, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there he will take you.
Deuteronomy 30:4 · SDVEven from the farthest reach, the scattered remain within reach of the gathering.
He gathers them in from the lands, from the east and the west, from the north and the south.
Psalm 107:3 · SDVThe gathering spans every direction, carrying the same reach named by east and west in Isaiah.
And not for that nation only, but that he would also gather together into one the children of God who were scattered abroad.
John 11:52 · SDVThe scattered are brought together in one, extending the pattern across the New Testament.
If any of yours are driven away to the outermost edge of heaven, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there he will take you.
Deuteronomy 30:4 · SDV

Both verses use ⁨קבץ⁩ (q-b-ts), “to gather,” for drawing the scattered together. Isaiah names east and west; Deuteronomy stretches the distance to the outmost parts of heaven, yet the gathering still reaches there.
