This verse in the King James

King James wording
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

The same Hebrew verb says you call on the LORD’s nature and the LORD calls the remnant, making deliverance a meeting of summons.

When you call on the LORD’s name, you call on the nature of the one who delivers. The verse places deliverance in Zion and Jerusalem and among a remnant the LORD himself calls; the human call and the divine call meet in the same promise.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The false belief that a person must reach deliverance alone dissolves here: the LORD calls the remnant too.

יִקְרָא

yiqra

GROWS FROM

קרא

To call out or summon; also to proclaim or read aloud.

⁨קָרָא⁩ (qara, call) appears first for the person and again for the LORD: one calls on ⁨שֵׁם⁩ (shem, name and nature), and the LORD calls the remnant. The echo reveals deliverance as a meeting between appeal to the LORD’s nature and the LORD’s own summons.

ALSO GROWS

qeri'ah: Calling, recitation, or reading aloud.

קְרִיאָה

This branch shows the call as voiced speech, not a silent label or private thought.

miqra: A convocation or assembly called together; also a reading or recitation.

מִקְרָא

The same root can gather people into an assembly, echoing the LORD’s call of the remnant.

A cry directed toward the LORD’s nature meets the LORD’s own response and opens into deliverance.

Call upon me in the day of the narrow place, and I draw you out, and you give me weight.
Psalm 50:15 · SDVThe caller’s appeal is joined directly to the LORD’s promise to deliver.
And I will bring the third through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them as gold is tested; they will call upon my nature, and I will hear and respond to them; I will say, It is my people; and they will say, The LORD is my God.
Zechariah 13:9 · SDVThe people call on the LORD’s name, and the LORD answers by hearing and claiming them.
For everyone who calls upon the nature of the LORD will be delivered.
Romans 10:13 · SDVThis verse repeats Joel’s promise that calling on the Lord’s name is joined to deliverance.
And I will bring the third through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them as gold is tested; they will call upon my nature, and I will hear and respond to them; I will say, It is my people; and they will say, The LORD is my God.
Zechariah 13:9 · SDV

Joel’s ⁨קרא⁩ (qara, call) echoes Zechariah’s “they shall call on my name.” Zechariah makes the response explicit, “I will hear them”, opening Joel’s promise as a meeting between the human call and the LORD’s answer.
