What Does 2 Chronicles 25:10 Mean in the King James?
Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.

King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
The word “returned” means “turned back”: the soldiers carry their anger home, so separation changes their location without cooling the conflict.
THE MEANING
When you step away from a charged encounter, distance can change your location while leaving the anger intact. Here, the return home carries the same heat that flared against Judah; movement alone does not settle what is still burning.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
The lie that leaving a conflict means the conflict has been resolved.
THE ROOT
וַיָּשֻׁבוּ
vayyashuvu
GROWS FROM
שׁוּב
To turn back, return, or come back.
“returned” in this verse is vayyashuvu. Here, שׁוּב (shuv, to return or turn back) describes the soldiers going to their own place. Its branches show that return can name a direction as well as a destination: these men go home while still carrying their anger.
ALSO GROWS
teshuvah: Return, turning
תְּשׁוּבָה
This branch makes the root’s sense of turning explicit: returning involves a change of direction, not simply arriving somewhere.
meshubah: Turning away, backsliding
מְשׁוּבָה
This branch shows that a turn can also be a turning away; the root holds the direction of a return open, while this verse shows anger traveling with the men as they go back.
וַיַּבְדִּילֵם
vayyavdilem
GROWS FROM
בָּדַל
To divide, separate, or distinguish.
“separated” in this verse is vayyavdilem. The verb describes Amaziah making the Ephraimite army a distinct group and sending it away. The separation is more than a change of arrangement: it sets the men apart from Judah, yet their anger remains directed against Judah.
ALSO GROWS
hivdil: To separate, distinguish
הִבְדִּיל
This verb form makes the act of division clear: the men are deliberately distinguished from the force remaining with Amaziah.
nivdal: Separated, set apart
נִבְדָּל
This form describes the resulting state of being separate, matching the men’s departure as a distinct group.
THE PATTERN
Anger that remains unresolved can travel forward and shape what happens next.
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.THE THREAD
And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; The same root, שׁוּב (shuv, to return or turn back), describes the soldiers going home and a return toward the LORD. The shared word lets you hear that returning is about direction as well as destination: the soldiers go back to their place with anger still carried.
