What Does 2 Chronicles 32:17 Mean in the King James?
He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.

THE KEY
The taunt treats a captor’s hand as absolute, but the Hebrew word for “deliver” pictures someone being snatched out of that grasp.
THE MEANING
When a power around you says its grip cannot be broken, this verse lets you hear that certainty as a boast, not a verdict. The repeated phrase “out of mine hand” makes the claim concrete: the question is whether anyone can take a people from the hand holding them. Even the name Hezekiah carries the sense “YHWH strengthens,” a quiet counter-note inside the taunt.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
The grip around me has final authority; no one can take me out of it.
THE ROOT
יַצִּיל
yatsil
GROWS FROM
נצל
To snatch away or remove; in causative forms, to rescue or deliver.
The Hebrew uses this root both for the gods who supposedly failed to pull their people free and for the God whom the speaker claims will not pull His people free. “Deliver” can sound like general rescue, but נצל evokes removal from a grasp, making the taunt a claim that no one can break the captor’s hold.
ALSO GROWS
hitsilu: They rescued or pulled away.
הִצִּילוּ
This is the same root in the taunt’s first claim: the speaker says the other gods could not pull their people from his hand.
wenitsaltem: You shall strip away or carry off; Exodus 3:22 uses this form for taking the Egyptians’ goods.
וְנִצַּלְתֶּם
The same root also describes taking things away, so deliverance carries the image of people being removed from the power that held them.
THE PATTERN
A hand that claims to hold people beyond reach does not make its grasp the final authority.
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.THE THREAD
And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.Exodus uses the same נצל root and the same image of being delivered “out of the hand.” It names the movement beyond that grasp as being brought up into a good and spacious land.
