What Does 2 Corinthians 10:13 Mean in the King James?
But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
The measure that limits boasting is also the measure that reaches you.
THE MEANING
The speaker’s reach includes you within a measure God apportions. The boundary is real, yet it extends this far: to you. Boasting stays within what is given, while the given measure still reaches outward.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
This undoes the belief that reaching another person means you have overstepped your portion: here, the reach to you is itself inside the measure God gives.
THE ROOT
ἄμετρα
ametra
GROWS FROM
μετρ-
metr-
Measure: a standard or bounded extent.
“without measure / measure” in this verse is ametra. The same Greek word family carries both “without measure” and “measure.” The verse turns from measurelessness to an extent God gives, and that given extent reaches you.
ALSO GROWS
ametროს: Unmeasured, beyond measure.
ἄμετρος
The verse uses its plural form in “things without our measure,” setting it against the measure God apportions.
metreō: To measure.
μετρέω
This verb shows the same root at work as an act of setting or recognizing an extent.
metrētēs: A measuring vessel or measure.
μετρητής
The word family can name not only the act of measuring but also the standard that holds a measured amount.
ἐμέρισεν
emerisen
GROWS FROM
μερ-
mer-
To divide into parts or apportion shares.
“Distributed” carries the sense of portions being assigned. The reach to you belongs to an allotted share, not an expansion invented by the one boasting.
ALSO GROWS
meros: A part or share.
μέρος
The root frames what is given as a portion within a larger whole.
meris: A portion or share.
μερίς
This branch makes the idea of an apportioned part explicit: the measure is received, and its reach includes you.
THE PATTERN
A measure received from God can set a boundary and still carry a person’s reach toward others.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.THE THREAD
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.Romans 12:3 repeats the same Greek word μέτρον (metron, measure) and pairs it with what God deals to each person. Here, that measure also has a reach that includes you, joining allotment and arrival in the same frame.
