This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The one who sends the question is still the true destination of the answer.

The person who sends a question is not outside the answer: the word returns through the messenger and names its destination. The authority rests in “Thus saith the LORD God of Israel,” while the one carrying the message remains its channel. When you seek an answer through another voice, the message can still speak directly to you.

שָׁלַח

shalach

GROWS FROM

שלח

To send or send forth; in some uses, to release or let go.

“sent” in this verse is shalach. The word for sending belongs to the same root that can express release: sending is setting something forth. Here the message returns along the path of sending, reaching the person who began the inquiry.

ALSO GROWS

shaliach: A person sent to carry a message or act on another’s behalf.

שָׁלִיחַ

The messengers carry the inquiry outward, then carry the answer back to the person who sent them.

Shiloach: The name of the pool whose waters are associated with being sent.

שִׁלֹחַ

In John 9:7, the sent waters become part of the movement through which sight is restored.

shallach: A command to send out or let go.

שַׁלַּח

In Exodus 5:1, the same root appears in “Let my people go,” joining the act of sending with release.

A person who sends someone to inquire becomes the direct recipient of the answer brought back.

But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
2 Kings 22:18 · KJVThe message explicitly returns to the king who sent the messengers and names him as its recipient.
Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.
Jeremiah 42:4 · KJVThe prophet promises to carry the answer back to the people who asked him to inquire.
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
Acts 10:33 · KJVCornelius says he sent for Peter, then gathers the household to hear the message entrusted to him.
And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
Exodus 5:1 · KJV

The same phrase, “Thus saith the LORD God of Israel,” introduces both messages. The Hebrew root in “sent” here is also the root behind “Let my people go”: the message sent to its hearer carries the language of release.
