This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The vision places greatness as height rising from the earth’s center: what towers still belongs to the ground beneath it.

The image meets you as a tree standing in the earth’s midst, its height immense. Its reach does not separate it from the ground; the vision holds vastness and earthly rootedness together.

רוּם

rûm

GROWS FROM

ר־ו־ם

r-w-m

To rise, be high, or be exalted; ⁨רוּם⁩ (rûm) also means height.

English makes “height” sound like a measurement, but the Aramaic word belongs to a root that also means to rise and be exalted. The tree’s stature carries that upward movement within it: its greatness appears as something rising from the earth.

ALSO GROWS

rām: High, lofty, exalted.

רָם

The same root links the tree’s visible height with the quality of being raised or exalted.

hērîm: Raised or lifted up.

הֵרִים

This verb form makes the root’s movement clear: height is bound to rising or being raised.

Scripture pictures greatness as life rising from its place and expanding into nourishment or shelter for others.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psalm 1:3 · KJVThe tree’s flourishing begins with where it is planted and becomes visible in its fruit and enduring leaves.
The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
Daniel 4:12 · KJVThe great tree’s height develops into provision and shelter for creatures around it.
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
Matthew 13:32 · KJVA small beginning rises into a tree whose branches make room for others.
The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
Daniel 4:11 · KJV

The Aramaic root ⁨רום⁩ (r-w-m), meaning to rise or be high, names the tree’s height in both verses. Here its height is great; the next verse stretches that same rising image to heaven.
