What Does Deuteronomy 1:10 Mean in the King James?
The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

THE KEY
The stars measure a people already multiplied “this day,” not abundance still waiting somewhere ahead.
THE MEANING
You are addressed as part of a people whose increase is already visible. The stars make that abundance larger than what one person can count; the verse places you within a life that has widened beyond its starting measure.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
It undoes the belief that only the abundance you can count in your own life is real: here, you belong to a people whose increase exceeds one person’s view.
THE ROOT
הִרְבָּה
hirbah
GROWS FROM
רבה
R-B-H
Become many; increase.
“multiplied” in this verse is hirbah. הִרְבָּה (hirbah, “he increased”) comes from רבה (rabah, “become many; increase”), so abundance is something brought into being. The closing לָרֹב (larov, “in multitude”) echoes its R-B sound, making increase and multitude ring together as action and result.
ALSO GROWS
harbeh: Much; many.
הַרְבֵּה
This form carries the root’s sense of abundance, showing that the people’s increase reaches a state of “many.”
marbeh: Increasing; making many.
מַרְבֶּה
This form keeps the increase active, echoing the verse’s movement from being multiplied to standing as a multitude.
THE PATTERN
God-given life expands beyond ordinary measures of counting.
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease. Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.THE THREAD
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;Genesis 22:17 uses the same Hebrew root for “multiplying” and repeats the stars as its measure. Here, that increase is voiced as present fact, “this day”, so the shared image moves from promise into a reality the reader can stand inside.
