What Does Deuteronomy 23:10 Mean in the King James?
If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
“Chanceth him by night” frames the impurity as something that happens to a person, even as the camp boundary remains strict.
THE MEANING
A bodily occurrence changes where you may be within the community. The boundary is real, but the verse names the cause as something that happens to you; it does not call it wrongdoing.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
It undoes the belief that every condition called uncleanness proves personal wrongdoing: this verse names a nighttime occurrence as the cause.
THE ROOT
מִקְרֵה
miqreh
GROWS FROM
קרה
To happen, meet, or befall.
“chanceth” in this verse is miqreh. Miqreh names an occurrence, something that happens or befalls a person. The verse holds that circumstance and the strict consequence together: the person must leave the camp.
ALSO GROWS
miqreh: An occurrence or event; what befalls someone.
מִקְרֶה
It names the nighttime cause as an event that happens to the person.
qarah: To happen, come upon, or befall.
קָרָה
The verb behind the noun keeps the sense of an event arriving or occurring.
טָהוֹר
tahor
GROWS FROM
טהר
To be clean or pure.
This root names both a condition and the process of becoming clean. Here “clean” is a ritual status affected by a bodily occurrence, not a verdict on the person’s character.
ALSO GROWS
tahor: Clean or pure.
טָהוֹר
This is the state the verse says the man does not have at that moment.
taher: To cleanse or make clean.
טָהֵר
The related verb shows that the status can change.
tohorah: Cleanness or purification.
טָהֳרָה
This noun carries the same root from a state into the idea of purification.
THE PATTERN
A bodily condition can change a person’s access to shared space without becoming a permanent definition of that person.
But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again. And if any man’s seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.THE THREAD
And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean. The shared Hebrew root טהר (t-h-r, to be clean) links Deuteronomy’s “clean” with Leviticus’ cleansing. Leviticus describes washing and waiting; Deuteronomy marks where the person stands while the condition holds.
