What Does Deuteronomy 30:1 Mean in the King James?
And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,

THE KEY
What is set before you is brought back to your heart, and that inner return begins even in the place of scattering.
THE MEANING
You meet blessing and curse, and bring them back to heart even in the place of scattering. Distance does not erase this inward movement; remembering begins among the nations themselves.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
It undoes the belief that displacement makes return impossible: the remembering happens where you have been driven.
THE ROOT
וַהֲשֵׁבֹתָ
vahashevota
GROWS FROM
שׁוּב
shuv
To return or turn back; in the causative form here, to bring back.
“call them to mind” in this verse is vahashevota. English says “call to mind,” but the Hebrew uses a causative form of שׁוּב (shuv, return): you bring these things back to your heart. The next verse uses the same root for your return to the LORD, making remembrance part of the movement of return.
ALSO GROWS
veshavta: You shall return.
וְשַׁבְתָּ
Deuteronomy 30:2 uses the same root for turning back to the LORD, linking what is brought back to your heart with the return that follows.
meshovev: Restores, brings back.
מְשׁוֹבֵב
Psalm 23:3 uses this form for restoring נֶפֶשׁ (nefesh, living soul), showing that this root can carry the sense of restoration as well as return.
THE PATTERN
The movement of return can begin inwardly, even while you remain in a place of distance.
And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!THE THREAD
And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; The verb translated “call them to mind” in verse 1 comes from שׁוּב (shuv, return): you bring the words back to your heart. Verse 2 uses that same root for your return to the LORD, so the two returns share one Hebrew seed.
