This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The cloud becomes empty precisely by becoming rain on the earth.

You see fullness become an event: the cloud empties its rain over the earth. You also see a fall become a location; the tree’s direction determines where it rests. Release and consequence are ordinary features of the world you inhabit.

יַרִיקוּ

yārîqû

GROWS FROM

ריק

to be empty; to empty out or pour out

“empty themselves” in this verse is yārîqû. The Hebrew verb comes from ⁨ריק⁩ (rîq), “empty”: the rain is the cloud being emptied. Fullness and release become one movement, from cloud to earth.

ALSO GROWS

rēq: empty, void; sometimes vain

רֵיק

This is the state the cloud enters as its rain pours out; the image is an actual emptying.

rēqām: empty-handed; without anything

רֵיקָם

The same root describes having nothing in hand, making the cloud’s emptied state a concrete absence.

מְקוֹם

məqôm

GROWS FROM

קום

to rise, stand, or arise

⁨מְקוֹם⁩ (məqôm), “place,” is formed from ⁨קום⁩ (qûm), “stand, rise.” The landing site is also a standing-place: after the tree falls, this is where it remains.

ALSO GROWS

qûm: to rise, stand, arise

קוּם

The root lets the tree’s resting place carry the sense of where it now stands.

hēqîm: to raise, set up, establish

הֵקִים

This branch extends the root’s sense of standing into making something stand or become established.

What fills or falls cannot remain abstract: fullness pours out, and a fall takes a definite place.

Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
Job 36:28 · KJVThe clouds’ fullness becomes rain released onto the earth.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Luke 6:45 · KJVWhat fills the heart becomes visible in what comes out through the mouth.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
John 12:24 · KJVThe seed’s fall into the ground gives way to a concrete outcome: fruit.
For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Job 14:7 · KJV

Ecclesiastes sees the tree fixed where it falls; Job sees new life emerging from a cut tree. Together, they open the possibility that a tree can remain rooted in its place while life still comes up there.
