King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
The Hebrew repeats the king-root in both the royal house and the date of the reign, placing Esther’s arrival and its timing inside the same order of rule.
THE MEANING
Esther is taken into the king’s house, and the verse dates her arrival by the seventh year of his reign. Her movement and the power surrounding her appear in the same frame. Your transitions, too, can unfold inside structures whose boundaries and timing are set by someone else.
THE ROOT
מֶלֶךְ
melekh malkhut
GROWS FROM
מלך
M-L-K
To reign, be king, or rule.
“king / royal house / reign” in this verse is melekh malkhut. English separates “king,” “royal house,” and “reign,” but Hebrew names Ahasuerus as מֶלֶךְ (melekh, king) and repeats מַלְכוּת (malkhut, kingdom or kingship) for both the house Esther enters and the year that measures her arrival. The palace and the calendar belong to the same grammar of rule.
ALSO GROWS
melekh: King; ruler.
מֶלֶךְ
Ahasuerus is named as the person whose rule frames the scene.
malkhut: Kingdom, kingship, or reign.
מַלְכוּת
This word appears twice in the Hebrew verse: in the phrase “house of his kingdom” and in “the seventh year of his kingdom.”
malakh: To reign or rule as king.
מָלַךְ
This verbal form shows the action beneath the king and kingdom nouns: ruling gives the scene its order and its measure of time.
THE PATTERN
Kingship is both a ruler and an order that gives a place and time their frame.
In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.THE THREAD
Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.Esther’s Hebrew uses מַלְכוּת (malkhut, kingdom or kingship) for both the royal house and the year-count of Ahasuerus’s reign. Psalm 145:13 uses the same root family for “kingdom,” stretching its frame across generations.
