This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The hands are beneath the wings: the creature’s power to act is held inside its covering.

The vision shows hands beneath wings on every side, while faces and wings turn outward in every direction. Its covering and its capacity to act belong to the same form. What surrounds it also carries its reach.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that what is covered must be absent or inactive: the hands remain beneath the wings.

כַּנְפֵיהֶם

kanfeihem

GROWS FROM

כ־נ־ף

Wing; by extension, an outer edge, extremity, or corner.

“wings” in this verse is kanfeihem. Kānāph can mean a wing, but the same word can also name the corner of a garment or the earth’s outer edge. The wing is both covering and reach; here, hands are found beneath that covering.

ALSO GROWS

kānāph: Wing

כָּנָף

The wing covers the hands while forming part of the creature’s reach on every side.

kenaf habbeged: Corner or edge of a garment

כְּנַף הַבֶּגֶד

The same word can name a garment’s covering edge, joining the image of a wing to something that surrounds and covers.

kanfot ha’aretz: Corners or edges of the earth

כַּנְפוֹת הָאָרֶץ

The word’s sense of outer reach extends from a creature’s wing to the earth’s far boundaries.

פְּנֵיהֶם

peneihem

GROWS FROM

פנה

Turn; face toward.

Panim names the face and can also carry the sense of presence or what is in front. The faces on every side make the creature’s orientation part of the vision: it meets the space around it from all directions.

ALSO GROWS

panim: Face, presence, or front

פָּנִים

The faces mark where the creature is turned and present.

lifnei: Before, in front of, or in the presence of

לִפְנֵי

The same word family makes “before” a position in front of a face or presence.

The winged covering is an active refuge: it shelters, carries, and gathers those beneath it.

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
Exodus 19:4 · KJVThe wings carry the reader onward and bring them near; the covering also moves.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Psalm 91:4 · KJVThe wing is shelter, a place to be covered beneath.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
Luke 13:34 · KJVUnder the wings becomes a gathering place for those who are scattered.
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Malachi 4:2 · KJV

The Hebrew kānāph (⁨כָּנָף⁩, wing or edge) appears in both verses. Ezekiel places hands beneath the wings; Malachi locates healing in them, joining hidden action with restoration.
