What Does Ezekiel 36:29 Mean in the King James?
I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
Deliverance reaches beyond what defiles you: it also calls forth food and removes famine.
THE MEANING
The promise meets you as a whole person: you are delivered from uncleanness, and grain is called forth and multiplied. Restoration reaches your table as well as what needs to be released; famine is not laid upon you.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
This undoes the belief that cleansing only takes something away and leaves you empty: the promise pairs release with provision.
THE ROOT
וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּי
ve-hoshaʿti yashaʿ
GROWS FROM
י־ש־ע
Deliver, rescue; bring out of what constricts.
“save” in this verse is ve-hoshaʿti yashaʿ. The promise of deliverance is not an abstract change of status: it brings you out of what holds you. Here that release reaches from uncleanness to the concrete absence of famine.
ALSO GROWS
yeshuah: Deliverance
יְשׁוּעָה
It names the release this verse promises, rather than leaving the verb “save” as a general idea.
moshiaʿ: Deliverer
מוֹשִׁיעַ
This branch names the one who brings you out of what constricts.
וְהִרְבֵּיתִי
ve-hirbeiti rabah
GROWS FROM
ר־ב־ה
Become many, multiply, increase.
“increase” in this verse is ve-hirbeiti rabah. The grain is not merely preserved at a bare minimum; the root speaks of multiplication. The promise moves from the removal of famine to provision that grows.
ALSO GROWS
hirbah: Multiply, increase
הִרְבָּה
It is another form of the verb’s root, making the movement from grain to abundance explicit.
marbeh: Increasing, abundant
מַרְבֶּה
This branch carries the same movement toward more, illuminating the verse’s promise of provision beyond mere survival.
THE PATTERN
Restoration reaches its fullness when what is removed gives way to provision that meets hunger.
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.THE THREAD
And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. The root רבה (rabah), “multiply, increase,” appears again as “multiply” and “increase.” The grain promised here opens into fruit and field, while the reproach of famine is removed.
