This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The verb translated “came together,” ⁨וַתִּקְרְבוּ⁩ (wattiqrevu), comes from ⁨קָרַב⁩ (qarav), “draw near”: restoration begins with the bones approaching one another, before anything covers them.

The word is spoken, and the first change is a sound, a shaking, and bones moving toward their own. For you now, restoration can begin as relation returning among what is still bare, before the living form is complete.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the belief that if the wound is still visible, nothing has begun: here, movement and reconnection come before flesh and breath.

וַתִּקְרְבוּ

wattiqrevu

GROWS FROM

קרב

Approach, draw near.

“came together” in this verse is wattiqrevu. The bones do not simply become a whole; the verb says they draw near. The same root carries the language of nearness and drawing near, so restoration begins as separated parts coming close.

ALSO GROWS

qarov: Near; close.

קָרוֹב

This branch makes the movement in “came together” tangible: the bones become near to one another.

qorban: A drawing near; an offering.

קָרְבָּן

The same root names an approach as well as bodily nearness, linking the bones’ reunion with the wider idea of drawing near.

עֲצָמוֹת

ʿatzamot

GROWS FROM

עצם

Be strong or mighty; the same consonants also appear in the word for bone and substance or self.

The word for bones echoes ⁨עָצוּם⁩ (ʿatsum), “strong” or “mighty,” while ⁨עֶצֶם⁩ (etsem) can mean “bone” and “substance” or “self.” As each bone finds its counterpart, the text lets bodily structure and essential substance sound together.

ALSO GROWS

ʿatsum: Strong; mighty; numerous.

עָצוּם

This word shares the root consonants with “bones,” allowing the body’s strength to echo in the image of bones gathering.

etsem: Bone; substance; self or the very thing itself.

עֶצֶם

The Hebrew word can hold bodily bone and substance together, giving “bone to his bone” an echo of essential structure returning to its place.

Wholeness takes shape as what is separated is gathered into relation.

The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Psalm 147:2 · KJVThe building of Jerusalem includes gathering those who are scattered back into relation.
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
1 Corinthians 12:24 · KJVThe body is brought together as its parts are held in relation and the lacking part receives honor.
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
Psalm 73:28 · KJV

“Draw near,” ⁨קִרְבַת⁩ (qirvat), comes from the same root ⁨קרב⁩ (qarav) as the bones’ “came together.” The psalm uses that nearness for relationship with God; Ezekiel uses it in the body, so one root holds relational closeness and physical reassembly together.
