What Does Galatians 3:28 Mean in the King James?
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

THE KEY
The categories remain named, but none gets to divide the one shared belonging found in Christ.
THE MEANING
Your ancestry, status, or sex does not rank your belonging in Christ: all who are in him are one. The verse holds these distinctions in view while denying them power to divide that shared identity.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
The lie this verse undoes is that ethnicity, social status, or sex can make one person less fully included in Christ than another.
THE ROOT
εἷς
heis
GROWS FROM
ἑν-
one; a single whole
Greek has different forms for “one” according to grammatical gender; Galatians uses masculine εἷς (heis, one) for the whole group. The singular gathers the people named into a shared identity in Christ, while their differences do not become gates to belonging.
ALSO GROWS
hen: One; the neuter form of the same numeral.
ἕν
In Ephesians 4:4 this form qualifies “body,” showing the shared whole can include distinct people gathered into one.
henotēs: Unity; oneness.
ἑνότης
Ephesians 4:3 uses this noun to name unity between people, making explicit that “one” is a shared bond rather than sameness of category.
THE PATTERN
God’s shared gift crosses human boundaries that sort people into separate ranks.
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.THE THREAD
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; The same numeral-root ἑν- (hen-, one) appears in Galatians’ εἷς (heis, one) and Ephesians’ ἕν (hen, one), where it gathers body, Spirit, and hope into one. Ephesians makes the shared identity in Galatians feel embodied: one body held by one breath and one hope.
