This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The destination is promised to be shown only after movement begins, direction arrives before the map.

The word reaches you at a threshold: what has formed your familiar world does not reveal the whole shape of where you are going. The next place is not yet in view, but the path is not empty; it is promised to be shown as you go. Departure and discovery belong to the same movement.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

You must see the entire destination before you can take a first step.

לֶךְ־לְךָ

lekh-lekha

GROWS FROM

הלך

h-l-k

to go, walk, or travel

“Get thee out” in this verse is lekh-lekha. The doubled command lekh-lekha (⁨לֶךְ־לְךָ⁩) carries the sense “go for yourself”; alongside the force of departure, the verb keeps the focus on movement toward a land not yet seen. The next place is promised as something to be shown, so the path opens in motion rather than arriving as a complete map.

ALSO GROWS

holekh: one who goes; going

הוֹלֵךְ

This branch keeps the command grounded in a person moving, not simply in leaving something behind.

halikhah: walking; a journey

הֲלִיכָה

The journey grows from the same root as the command: the way becomes real through going.

A path can be illuminated in stages: movement comes before the full destination is visible.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105 · KJVThe image gives light at the feet and along the path, showing guidance in the steps ahead.
And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
Isaiah 42:16 · KJVThe path is unfamiliar, yet its way becomes clear as it is traveled.
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Hebrews 11:8 · KJVAbraham moves toward a place he has not yet seen, echoing the promise that the land will be shown.
And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Genesis 22:2 · KJV

The same doubled lekh-lekha (⁨לֶךְ־לְךָ⁩) stands at both thresholds: away from country and household here, toward Moriah there. Its recurrence binds the promised destination to a later demand of devastating cost, and the text leaves that violence exposed.
