What Does Hebrews 3:2 Mean in the King James?
Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

THE KEY
Jesus and Moses share the same steadiness inside a house that belongs to another.
THE MEANING
The one appointed is steady toward the One who appoints him, and Moses is steady throughout the whole house. Their steadiness takes place within what belongs to God; it does not begin with self-appointment or ownership. This same truth speaks now wherever you are entrusted with a place inside something larger.
THE ROOT
πιστὸν
piston
GROWS FROM
πειθ-
peith-
To persuade or bring to trust; πιστός describes someone reliable, firm, and steady.
The Greek word is πιστόν, from the family of πείθω, which gathers trust, persuasion, and being persuaded. Here, “faithful” carries the sense of being steady enough to be relied on within the house.
ALSO GROWS
pistis: trust, confidence
πίστις
This branch shows the trust gathered into the steadiness named in the verse.
peithomai: to be persuaded, to trust
πείθομαι
This branch links being reliable with a settled trust rather than a passing claim.
ποιήσαντι
poiēsanti
GROWS FROM
ποιέω
poieō
To make or do; in this phrase, the one who makes or appoints him.
“appointed” in this verse is poiēsanti. The appointing is expressed with a verb whose basic sense is making or doing. Authority here is received from the One who makes and appoints; it is not self-originating.
ALSO GROWS
poiēma: something made, a work
ποίημα
This branch keeps the maker and what is made together, echoing the relationship between the appointer and the appointed.
poiētēs: maker, doer
ποιητής
This branch names the one who makes or does, clarifying the agency behind the appointment.
οἴκῳ
oikō
GROWS FROM
οἶκος
oikos
A house or household: both a dwelling and the people held within it.
The word can hold a household as well as a building, so steadiness “in all his house” reaches across the whole entrusted community. The house belongs to its owner; the ones within it serve and belong without becoming its source.
ALSO GROWS
oikia: house, household
οἰκία
This branch makes the family or household sense explicit.
oikodomeō: build a house, build up
οἰκοδομέω
This branch shows the household word extending into the act of building and sustaining what is held together.
THE PATTERN
Steadiness is revealed by how someone carries what is entrusted, from the whole household to the smallest task.
My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.THE THREAD
My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. The phrase “faithful in all mine house” echoes the same description of Moses, and the Greek carries the same word family, πιστός (pistos), for steadiness. The repeated wording binds Moses’ steadiness to the household in Hebrews 3:2.
