This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The word does not stay with the one who sends it: it is released into Jacob and falls upon Israel.

God’s word reaches you as something sent into life and landing among people, not a thought held at a distance. Jacob (⁨יַעֲקֹב⁩, Yaʿaqov, heel-holder or supplanter) and Israel (⁨יִשְׂרָאֵל⁩, Yisra’el, one who strives with God) are two names for the people it reaches. The verse says the word falls; its arrival has force.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

God’s word is only an idea that can remain safely at a distance. Here it is released into human life and lands with force.

שָׁלַח

shalach

GROWS FROM

שלח

To send, send forth, release, or let go.

The verb shows the word leaving its source and entering Jacob. Its movement continues in the next phrase: what is sent comes down upon Israel.

ALSO GROWS

shulchan: Table; provision spread out or extended.

שֻׁלְחָן

This branch gives sending a form: what is released can be extended into another’s space.

Shiloach: Siloam; the sent waters associated with restored sight.

שִׁלֹחַ

The name carries the same sending into a visible arrival: what is sent reaches someone and opens sight.

נָפַל

nafal

GROWS FROM

נפל

To fall, fall upon, or descend.

“lighted upon” in this verse is nafal. The Hebrew verb holds the concrete image of falling: the sent word comes down upon Israel. Beside shalach, it reveals the sentence’s movement from release to impact.

ALSO GROWS

mappalah: A fall, collapse, or downfall.

מַפָּלָה

This noun keeps the root’s fall consequential, showing how something that comes down can change what it reaches.

nofel: Falling; one who falls.

נֹפֵל

This form presents falling as an active movement, matching the word’s arrival upon Israel.

A word sent from God enters human life and produces an effect.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psalm 107:20 · KJVThe sent word arrives as healing and deliverance, naming a concrete effect of its arrival.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11 · KJVThe word goes out, reaches its destination, and accomplishes what it was sent to do.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 · KJVThe word reaches beneath appearances and exposes what is moving within the heart.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psalm 107:20 · KJV

Psalm 107:20 repeats the Hebrew pair ⁨דָּבָר⁩ (davar, word) and ⁨שָׁלַח⁩ (shalach, send), then names healing and deliverance as the effect. It makes the arrival in Isaiah tangible: what is sent changes the condition of those it reaches.
