This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The bottle is not a prop: its maker is called a former, so it arrives already carrying the language of creation.

The word places a potter-shaped vessel beside elders drawn from both the people and the priests. The message takes material form and stands among witnesses, so what is about to be declared can be seen as well as heard. The bottle’s shape points back to the hand that formed it.

GROWS FROM

י־צ־ר

y-ts-r

to form, fashion, shape

The English “potter” can sound like a job title, while ⁨יוֹצֵר⁩ (yōṣēr, “one who forms”) names the act of shaping. The same root describes the human formed from the ground in Genesis 2:7, so the bottle carries creation’s language before it becomes a sign.

ALSO GROWS

yatsar: to form, fashion, shape

יָצַר

This verb describes the LORD forming the human from the ground; the potter’s title names that same shaping act.

yetser: form, design, inclination

יֵצֶר

The root can name not only a visible shape but also an inward design, extending the language of forming beyond the vessel’s clay.

A shaped vessel remains related to the authority of the one who formed it.

But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Isaiah 64:8 · KJVThe clay and potter image makes the people’s formedness, and the maker’s hand, explicit.
Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Romans 9:21 · KJVThe potter’s authority over the vessel shows that its shape remains tied to the one who forms it.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:3 · KJVThe verse connects being made with belonging to the one who made.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7 · KJV

The same root ⁨יצר⁩ (yatsar, “form”) describes the LORD shaping the human from the ground. Jeremiah’s bottle therefore carries a creation word in its potter’s title: its shape points back to the act of being formed.
