What Does Jeremiah 33:15 Mean in the King James?
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
The Branch is righteousness in living form: it grows into the land and becomes the way that land is governed.
THE MEANING
God is causing the Branch to grow, and its fruit is judgment (מִשְׁפָּט, mishpat: just decision) and righteousness (צְדָקָה, tsedaqah: alignment) in the land. The verse speaks now of alignment taking public shape in the conditions of your life. David’s name carries the sense “beloved” (דָּוִד, David, from דּוֹד, dod), tying this growth to a beloved line.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
It undoes the idea that righteousness is only private character or a distant ideal: here it grows into the land as public judgment and alignment.
THE ROOT
צֶמַח
tsemach
GROWS FROM
צמח
To sprout, shoot forth, or grow.
English “Branch” can sound like a title, but צֶמַח (tsemach) means a shoot or growth and belongs to the verb צָמַח (tsamach), “to sprout.” The promised ruler is pictured as living emergence, not merely given a label.
ALSO GROWS
tsamach: To sprout or grow.
צָמַח
The same root names the action behind the Branch: it is growth coming into being.
tsemach: A shoot, growth, or branch.
צֶמַח
The noun presents the promised ruler as new growth that can take root and bear fruit.
צְדָקָה
tsedaqah
GROWS FROM
צדק
To be right or just; alignment with what is right.
“righteousness” in this verse is tsedaqah. This word shares its root with צֶדֶק (tsedeq), “rightness” or “justice,” and צַדִּיק (tsaddiq), “a righteous one.” In this verse, alignment is both what the Branch embodies and what becomes active in the land.
ALSO GROWS
tsedeq: Rightness or justice.
צֶדֶק
It shows the shared ground between righteousness and the just decisions named in the verse.
tsaddiq: A righteous or aligned person.
צַדִּיק
It links the quality of alignment to the person who carries it into the land.
דָּוִד
David
GROWS FROM
דוד
Beloved; the word family also carries the sense of kin or beloved one.
The name David is linked to דּוֹד (dod), “beloved.” The growth is promised unto David, so the name carries a sense of belovedness within the line from which the Branch emerges.
ALSO GROWS
dod: Beloved or close kinsman.
דּוֹד
It reveals the name-nature carried by David in the verse.
dodim: Love or beloved affection.
דּוֹדִים
This related form carries the same root’s language of love and belonging.
THE PATTERN
David’s promised hope takes the form of living growth whose rule brings right order into the land.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.THE THREAD
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:Zechariah uses צֶמַח (tsemach, “shoot” or “Branch”) for the same living growth and says it grows from its place. The shared root makes the title a process: the Branch is growth taking form, and the temple-building follows.
