This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The one who resists the LORD is caught in a trap they cannot see.

The LORD finds and catches what stands against him, even when it remains unaware of the danger. The verse speaks now of opposition that assumes it is beyond reach: being unaware of the trap does not prevent it from closing.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie that unawareness or apparent power places a person beyond the LORD’s reach falls away.

נִלְכַּדְתְּ

nilkadt

GROWS FROM

לכד

lakad

to seize or capture

“taken” in this verse is nilkadt. The verse’s separate noun ⁨פַּח⁩ (pach, snare) names the trap, while ⁨נִלְכַּדְתְּ⁩ (nilkadt, you are captured) names its result. The same capture-root appears for the caught foot in Psalm 9:15, bringing the trap and its consequence into one repeated action.

ALSO GROWS

yillākēḏ: he will be caught or seized

יִלָּכֵד

Proverbs 5:22 uses this form for the wicked person being caught by their own crookedness, echoing the capture in Jeremiah.

nilkĕdāh: was caught or seized

נִלְכְּדָה

Psalm 9:15 uses this form for the foot caught in a hidden net, linking the root directly to another trap.

What a person sets in motion can return as the very consequence that catches them.

He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.
Psalm 7:15 · KJVThe one who digs the trap becomes the one caught in it.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
Proverbs 5:22 · KJVThe person’s own crookedness becomes the cords that hold them.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7 · KJVWhat a person sets in motion returns as the harvest they meet.
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
Psalm 9:15 · KJV

Jeremiah’s “taken” and Psalm 9’s “taken” come from ⁨לכד⁩ (lakad), meaning to seize or capture. In both verses, what is hidden ends in capture; Psalm 9 makes the reversal explicit by showing the trapper’s own foot caught in the net.
