What Does Job 27:18 Mean in the King James?
He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.

THE KEY
The keeper’s booth shares the moth’s fragility, placing watchful care and temporary shelter in the same image.
THE MEANING
Your shelter can be real and still temporary. The moth’s dwelling and the keeper’s booth both shelter for a time, so careful making and watching do not make what surrounds you permanent.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
A carefully built and guarded home is therefore permanent.
THE ROOT
נֹצֵר
nōṣēr
GROWS FROM
נצר
n-ṣ-r
to guard, keep, preserve
“Keeper” is not just a role: nōṣēr is the one who natsar, guards and preserves. The verse sets that guarding action beside a booth, so purposeful care belongs to an image of temporary shelter.
ALSO GROWS
nāṣar: to guard, keep, preserve
נָצַר
This verb names the act carried by the keeper in the verse.
nəṣōr: keep, guard
נְצֹר
Proverbs uses this form for guarding the heart, showing the same root applied to what holds the course of life.
nōṣēr: one who guards; keeper
נֹצֵר
This is the form in Job: the keeper makes the booth, joining preservation with a shelter that remains temporary.
THE PATTERN
A humanly made shelter or store of goods can offer real cover while remaining temporary and beyond the maker’s control.
Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?THE THREAD
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. The verb behind “keeper” is נצר, the same root in “Keep thy heart.” Job’s keeper makes a temporary booth; Proverbs applies guarding to the heart, from which life flows.
