This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The knock does not have to break the door down; the verse says it will be opened from the other side.

When you ask, the verse says you receive; when you seek, you find; when you knock, an opening comes. Each movement meets a response, and the final verb leaves the opening in another’s hands. The promise addresses you as one who can approach, without naming a qualification first.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

A closed door is not proof that your approach is futile: the verse says the one who knocks is met with an opening.

ἀνοιγήσεται

anoigēsetai

GROWS FROM

ἀνοιγ-

anoig-

To open or make accessible; here, to be opened.

The verse does not say the knocker opens the door: ⁨ἀνοιγήσεται⁩ is passive, “it will be opened.” The same opening-root appears when eyes are opened in Luke 24:31, so opening can carry both access and perception.

ALSO GROWS

dianoigō: To open up, open fully

διανοίγω

This compound uses the same opening-root for eyes opened to recognition, linking a door’s access with perception.

ánoixis: An opening; the act of opening

ἄνοιξις

This noun makes visible the opening itself, the change from closed to accessible that the verse promises.

Approach met by response turns asking, seeking, and knocking into access.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:5 · KJVHere asking meets a generous response: what is requested is given.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 · KJVSeeking is answered with finding, as the search reaches the one sought.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20 · KJVHere the knocker is Christ, yet knocking still leads toward an opened door and shared presence.
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luke 24:31 · KJV

Luke uses the same opening-root when the disciples’ eyes are opened. The door here opens to the knocker; there sight opens to recognition, letting “opened” hold access and perception together.
