This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The accuser treats Peter’s Galilean identity as a tell of his company, so his denial struggles against a connection others can still read.

Someone names an identifying trace and turns it into a confident claim of association. Peter’s denial does not erase the fact that he has been with Jesus; the connection remains legible to another person. The verse speaks now wherever what a person belongs to shows through more clearly than the words meant to conceal it.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The verse undoes the belief that denying a connection makes its traces disappear.

διισχυρίζετο

diischyrizeto

GROWS FROM

ἰσχυρ-

ischyr-

Strong; having force or power.

“confidently affirmed” in this verse is diischyrizeto. The verb carries the force of insisting, not merely mentioning a suspicion. Its word-family links strength with being strong and having power; here the speaker presses the claim with emphatic force, though that force alone does not prove the inference.

ALSO GROWS

ischyros: Strong, mighty.

ἰσχυρός

Its sense of strength echoes the emphatic force of the accusation.

ischyō: Be strong; have power or prevail.

ἰσχύω

The claim is presented as something that holds firmly, not as a passing guess.

ἀληθῶς

alēthōs

GROWS FROM

ἀληθ-

alēth-

True; real.

“Of a truth” frames the identification as certain in the speaker’s eyes. The word signals how firmly the claim is made; it does not by itself establish that the speaker’s inference from Peter’s regional identity is sound.

ALSO GROWS

alētheia: Truth; what is true.

ἀλήθεια

The same word-family appears in the connected verse, where truth is linked with freedom.

alēthēs: True; genuine.

ἀληθής

Its sense of what is genuine sharpens the speaker’s insistence that Peter’s connection is real.

Belonging becomes legible through observable marks, chosen allegiance, speech, or conduct.

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Ruth 1:16 · KJVRuth names her chosen people and God, making belonging audible in her own declaration.
And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
Matthew 26:73 · KJVPeter’s speech is treated as a recognizable marker tying him to Jesus’ followers.
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13 · KJVPeter and John’s boldness leads others to recognize that they have been with Jesus.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32 · KJV

The same Greek word-family appears in “Of a truth” and “the truth.” Luke shows truth asserted as a claim that exposes Peter’s association; John connects truth with freedom, opening a further dimension of what truth does.
