Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;

THE KEY
The long list of days measures how a craving can outlast its imagined reward until the thing wanted becomes repulsive.
THE MEANING
The repeated spans carry the demand past a quick taste and into an abundance large enough to become repulsive. What looks like satisfaction when you crave it can turn into disgust when it fills your body.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
It undoes the belief that receiving more of what you crave will necessarily satisfy you: fulfillment itself can become unbearable.
THE ROOT
תֹּאכְלוּן
toʾkhelun
GROWS FROM
אכל
ʾ-k-l
to eat, consume
“eat” in this verse is toʾkhelun. The verb for eating belongs to the same root family as the word for food, joining the act of consuming with what is consumed. Here, the promised food becomes the very thing that fills the body until it is repulsive.
ALSO GROWS
ʾokhel: A person or thing consuming food
אֹכֵל
The eating in this verse is not abstract appetite; it is an act carried through repeated days.
maʾakhal: Something eaten
מַאֲכָל
The shared root keeps the act and its object joined: the thing desired is also what becomes unbearable when consumed in excess.
THE PATTERN
A craving fulfilled without regard for its consequences can turn provision into excess and judgment.
But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt? So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire; Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.THE THREAD
So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;“Eat” here and “did eat” there share the Hebrew root אכל (ʾ-k-l), meaning to eat or consume. The psalm says they are filled; read beside this growing list of days, that fullness reaches the point where the desired food becomes repulsive.
