This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The vow reaches beyond wine to the entire vine, placing the whole source within the boundary of consecration.

A vow of consecration has a visible edge: it reaches every product of the vine, from kernel to husk. Its boundary does not stop at wine or the fruit’s familiar sweetness; the whole source falls within the commitment.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The only thing a Nazirite gives up is wine.

נִזְרוֹ

nizro

GROWS FROM

נזר

n-z-r

To separate oneself or dedicate; a consecrated status set apart by a boundary.

The phrase “his separation” uses ⁨נִזְרוֹ⁩ (nizro), from ⁨נזר⁩ (n-z-r), the same root behind ⁨נָזִיר⁩ (nazir), a consecrated person, and ⁨נֵזֶר⁩ (nezer), consecration or crown. Here separation is more than an absence: it is the marked boundary by which the vow becomes visible, enclosing the vine from kernel to husk.

ALSO GROWS

nazir: A consecrated person, one set apart by a vow.

נָזִיר

The person’s identity is expressed through the boundary the vow places around the vine.

nezer: Consecration; also a crown or diadem.

נֵזֶר

The shared root links being set apart with a visible mark of that dedication; the verse makes the vow visible through what it excludes.

Setting something apart draws a boundary around its whole field, including forms less obvious than its central expression.

He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
Numbers 6:3 · KJVThe boundary reaches beyond wine to the other drinks and forms of grape.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel 1:8 · KJVDaniel’s resolve includes both the king’s food and wine, giving the commitment a concrete boundary.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2 Corinthians 6:17 · KJVSeparation is expressed as a boundary that includes what one touches, not only what one consumes.
He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
Numbers 6:3 · KJV

The same root ⁨נזר⁩ (n-z-r) appears in “separate himself” in verse 3 and “his separation” in verse 4. Verse 3 names wine and grape products; verse 4 gathers the vine’s whole range, from kernel to husk, within that consecration.
