What Does Philippians 4:16 Mean in the King James?
For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

THE KEY
Here, care is measured by what crosses the distance to your need, and returns.
THE MEANING
Your need is seen by care that crosses distance and arrives in a tangible form. Because the sending comes “once and again,” support returns to the place of need instead of remaining only a feeling held at a distance.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
The belief that you must carry every need alone, or that real care appears only once, is undone by this repeated sending.
THE ROOT
ἐπέμψατε
epempsate
GROWS FROM
πέμπ-
pemp-
The Greek stem means to send or dispatch.
“sent” in this verse is epempsate. The verb names an action that crosses distance: care reaches you because someone sends it toward your need. Related compounds can extend the same movement into sending ahead or accompanying, so this root holds more than an intention; it carries aid toward its recipient.
ALSO GROWS
propempō: Send ahead; accompany or help on the way.
προπέμπω
This branch shows that sending can include accompaniment, illuminating care that continues toward the person who needs it.
ekpempō: Send out or dispatch.
ἐκπέμπω
This branch makes the movement from sender to recipient visible: the help in this verse crosses distance and reaches a need.
THE PATTERN
Shared provision turns another person’s lack into a place where care becomes concrete and repeatable.
But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth. But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.THE THREAD
Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judæa:The same Greek sending-root appears here in the decision to send relief to people in need. It makes the movement in Philippians plain: care travels toward need, and there it becomes provision.
