This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The voice they now call to is the very voice they first refused.

Wisdom is speaking in this warning now: refusal reaches a point where later calls receive no answer and earnest searching finds nothing. The verse keeps the consequence stark; urgency does not reverse the earlier refusal.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the belief that wisdom can be refused now and the same access recovered whenever you want.

יִקְרָאֻנְנִי

yiqra’uneni

GROWS FROM

קרא

Call, summon, proclaim; in other forms, read aloud.

“call upon me” in this verse is yiqra’uneni. The same root links this later call to Wisdom’s earlier “I have called” in Proverbs 1:24. The unanswered cry becomes an echo of the summons they refused: calling does not itself guarantee access.

ALSO GROWS

qara: To call, summon, or proclaim.

קָרָא

This is the verb behind both Wisdom’s summons and the people’s later call.

miqra: A convocation or reading aloud.

מִקְרָא

The root also carries the sense of voicing words publicly, widening “call” beyond a private plea.

יְשַׁחֲרֻנְנִי

yəšaḥărūnənî

GROWS FROM

שחר

Dawn or daybreak; as a verb, to seek early or earnestly.

“seek me early” in this verse is yəšaḥărūnənî. English “early” can sound like clock time alone. The ⁨שחר⁩ family holds dawn and diligent seeking together, so the search is urgent and sustained; even that urgency does not undo the refusal.

ALSO GROWS

shachar: Dawn or daybreak.

שַׁחַר

This is the root’s image of seeking at first light.

shicher: To seek diligently or earnestly.

שִׁחֵר

This verbal form shows that the search can carry persistence as well as earliness.

A refused summons can become an unanswered call when the moment of access has passed.

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Proverbs 1:24 · KJVWisdom’s earlier call makes the later unanswered call a direct reversal.
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Isaiah 55:6 · KJVSeeking and calling are joined to a moment when the LORD is near and findable.
When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luke 13:25 · KJVThe late knock meets a shut door and an answer that confirms the lost access.
Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Proverbs 1:24 · KJV

The same ⁨קרא⁩ (qara, call) root stands behind Wisdom’s earlier call and the people’s later call. Their unanswered cry is the echo of a summons they refused.
