This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

A destructive mouth can ruin a neighbor, but knowledge draws the aligned out of the damage.

An untrue mouth can still ruin someone beside you; confidence does not make its damage harmless. Knowledge, perception that recognizes what is happening, draws the aligned out of that ruin. The verse sets destructive speech against a knowing that makes a way clear.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie that a destructive mouth has the final word: the verse says knowledge can draw the aligned out of its reach.

יֵחָלֵצוּ

yēḥālēṣū

GROWS FROM

חלץ

ḥ-l-ṣ

To draw out, extricate, or remove; in this form, to be drawn out or rescued.

The word translated delivered carries the image of being drawn clear of what holds or threatens you. Knowledge is the means by which the aligned are extricated from the ruinous reach of the hypocrite’s mouth.

ALSO GROWS

ḥālaṣ: To draw out, remove, or rescue.

חָלַץ

This root sense makes deliverance feel like being pulled clear of harm.

ḥālûṣ: One equipped or armed for action.

חָלוּץ

The same root also describes being equipped, linking being drawn out with being made ready to stand.

דַּעַת

daʿat

GROWS FROM

ידע

y-d-ʿ

To know, perceive, or recognize.

Daʿat grows from yada, knowing and perceiving. The verse presents knowledge as clear recognition that can draw a person out from the harm carried by destructive speech.

ALSO GROWS

yādaʿ: To know, recognize, or perceive.

יָדַע

The verb gives knowledge its active sense: recognizing what is happening.

maddāʿ: Knowledge or understanding.

מַדָּע

This related noun shows the same root’s movement from perceiving to what is understood.

חָנֵף

ḥānēf

GROWS FROM

חנף

ḥ-n-p

To profane or pollute.

The word rendered hypocrite carries the sense of what is profane or polluted. Its placement beside mouth shows speech carrying that corruption into a neighbor’s life, while knowledge draws the aligned clear.

ALSO GROWS

ḥānēf: A profane or irreverent person; rendered hypocrite here.

חָנֵף

It gives the destructive speaker a quality of inner pollution, not merely outward performance.

ḥanuppāh: Profaneness or pollution.

חֲנֻפָּה

This related form shows the quality the speaker carries into the neighbor’s life.

Ruin travels through speech, while knowledge opens a way out of its reach.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:21 · KJVThe tongue carries consequences that can reach into another person’s life.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Hosea 4:6 · KJVThe absence of knowledge is directly linked to destruction.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32 · KJVKnowing truth leads out of captivity and into freedom.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Hosea 4:6 · KJV

The same Hebrew noun ⁨דַּעַת⁩ (daʿat, knowledge) stands at the center of both lines. Here knowledge is the means of being drawn out; in Hosea, its lack accompanies destruction.
