What Does Proverbs 15:6 Mean in the King James?
In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

THE KEY
The verse treats income as an arrival: whatever comes into a house brings its own condition with it.
THE MEANING
Your household receives more than money; it receives consequences bound up with how that money comes. A life in alignment can hold substantial stores, while crooked gain brings disturbance into the same space. The verse makes the effect of wealth visible in the life being lived now.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
Money that comes in is automatically a gain; this verse says trouble can arrive with the income.
THE ROOT
נֶעְכָּרֶת
neʿekeret
GROWS FROM
עכר
to trouble, disturb, or throw into disorder
The word names disturbance as part of the wicked person’s yield, not as an unrelated event that happens afterward. Its root also names a troubler and gives rise to Achor, a name associated with trouble, so the disturbance can become an environment others must live in.
ALSO GROWS
ʿākar: to trouble or disturb
עָכַר
Joshua 7:25 uses this verb for the repeated troubling that echoes the word in Proverbs.
ʿĀkôr: trouble; the name Achor, associated with the Valley of Trouble
עָכוֹר
This branch makes trouble a place one can find oneself in, widening the verse’s image beyond a private feeling.
תְּבוּאָה
tevuʾah
GROWS FROM
בוא
to come, enter, or arrive
“revenues” in this verse is tevuʾah. The Hebrew word for revenue grows from the root for coming or entering: it is what comes in. The verse links the incoming yield with trouble, showing that what crosses the threshold can carry its source and effects with it.
ALSO GROWS
bōʾ: to come, enter, or arrive
בּוֹא
This root gives the income word its sense of something arriving in the household.
māvōʾ: an entrance or entryway
מָבוֹא
The shared root connects incoming gain with what passes through a household’s threshold.
צַדִּיק
tsaddiq
GROWS FROM
צדק
to be right or just; alignment with what is right
Righteous belongs to a word family that names rightness and justice, so the verse describes the house by the order shaping it. Alignment is not just a label for its owner; it is expressed in what the house can hold.
ALSO GROWS
tsedeq: rightness or justice
צֶדֶק
This branch reveals the alignment carried by the description of the house’s owner.
tsedaqah: righteousness, justice, or an act of giving
צְדָקָה
The same root family links right order with what a person does and extends into the household.
THE PATTERN
Gain carries the quality of its source into the life that receives it.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.THE THREAD
And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.Joshua repeats the same עכר root in troubled us and trouble thee, and the verse ends with the blunt violence of stoning and burning. That connection shows disturbance spreading beyond the one who brings it, opening Proverbs’ claim that crooked yield already carries trouble.
