This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

A cry can reach toward the LORD while the deliverance it seeks remains absent.

This verse places a plea for help before you: the LORD is addressed, yet no deliverer comes and no answer arrives. It holds the cry and its outcome apart; crying out does not itself mean someone is brought out.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the belief that calling on the LORD automatically guarantees the rescue one seeks; here the cry is met with neither deliverance nor answer.

מוֹשִׁיעַ

môšîaʿ

GROWS FROM

יָשַׁע

Deliver; bring out into spaciousness.

“save” in this verse is môšîaʿ. The Hebrew word is ⁨מוֹשִׁיעַ⁩ (môšîaʿ), “a deliverer,” from ⁨יָשַׁע⁩ (yasha), “to deliver, to bring out.” Its branches include ⁨יְשׁוּעָה⁩ (yeshuah), “deliverance,” and ⁨יֵשׁוּעַ⁩ (Yeshua), a name carrying the nature of deliverance; here, that movement out never arrives.

ALSO GROWS

yeshuah: Deliverance

יְשׁוּעָה

This branch names the deliverance missing from the verse: the cry is present, but no one brings them out.

Yeshua: Deliverance itself; the name carries the nature of deliverance

יֵשׁוּעַ

The name shares the root of “save,” making deliverance a nature expressed through being brought out.

A plea for rescue does not itself guarantee the outcome sought; scripture distinguishes calling from being answered or delivered.

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
Proverbs 1:28 · KJVThe call is made, but the answer is explicitly withheld.
Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
Micah 3:4 · KJVThe cry is met with a hidden face, echoing the unanswered appeal here.
When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luke 13:25 · KJVThe plea receives a reply, but the requested opening does not come.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Psalm 18:3 · KJV

“Saved” here and “save” in Psalm 18:41 share ⁨יָשַׁע⁩ (yasha), “to deliver, to bring out.” The same Psalm sets the speaker’s expected deliverance beside his opponents’ cry with no deliverer, making the contrast turn on who is brought out.
