This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The collapse reaches past human kingdoms into the very landmarks that make the world feel fixed.

The verse confronts you with total dislocation: the island flees, and the mountains vanish from discovery. The ground of orientation itself is no longer dependable; what looks immovable does not guarantee a fixed world.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie it undoes is that the world’s most solid features must remain available as dependable anchors.

ἔφυγεν

ephygen

GROWS FROM

φευγ-

pheug-

to flee, escape

“fled away” in this verse is ephygen. The verse makes the island itself the subject of flight: what seems fixed is pictured as fleeing. The Greek word belongs to the same family as words for flight and fugitive, turning the scenery into something escaping its place.

ALSO GROWS

phygē: flight

φυγή

It names the movement that the verse assigns to the island itself.

phygas: fugitive, exile

φυγάς

It carries the root’s sense of escape in the form of one who flees, sharpening the verse’s image of the landscape in flight.

οὐχ εὑρέθησαν

ouch heurethēsan

GROWS FROM

εὑρ-

heur-

to find, discover, come upon

“were not found” in this verse is ouch heurethēsan. The mountains are not described simply as leveled; they are no longer found. The verb centers on finding or discovering, so the loss reaches orientation: the landmarks that usually answer “where am I?” can no longer be located.

ALSO GROWS

heurēma: a thing found, a discovery

εὕρημα

It names the result of finding, bringing out the force of the mountains’ absence from discovery.

heuretēs: finder, discoverer

εὑρετής

It names one who finds, making clear that the verse’s verb concerns whether something can be located at all.

When the created order is shaken, its most fixed landmarks can depart while what is not shaken remains.

And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Revelation 6:14 · KJVThe sky, mountains, and islands all lose their places as the created order gives way.
For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
Isaiah 54:10 · KJVEven departing mountains are set beside a steadfast covenant that does not depart.
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Hebrews 12:27 · KJVThe shaking removes what is made so that what cannot be shaken remains.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:7 · KJV

The Greek verb translated “find” is the same in both verses: Matthew promises finding in response to seeking, while Revelation says the mountains are no longer found. The echo makes the collapse more than movement: even the world’s most solid coordinates slip beyond recovery.
