What Does Romans 2:25 Mean in the King James?
For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

THE KEY
A mark on the body cannot preserve a meaning that the life itself has crossed.
THE MEANING
The outward mark has value when your life practices God’s instruction. When you cross that instruction, the mark remains on your body, but it no longer tells the truth about how you live. The verse names that reversal as uncircumcision.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
A visible religious sign guarantees that my life is faithful, whatever I do.
THE ROOT
πράσσῃς
prassēs
GROWS FROM
πράσσω
prassō
to do, practice, carry through
The verb behind “keep” points to practicing the instruction. Its branches name action and deed, so the verse focuses on instruction enacted in life, not merely held as an identity.
ALSO GROWS
praxis: action, deed
πρᾶξις
It makes visible the lived action implied by practicing the instruction.
pragma: deed, matter
πρᾶγμα
It links practice to what a person actually does.
παραβάτης
parabátēs
GROWS FROM
βαίνω
bainō
to step, go
The word frames a breaker as one who steps across a boundary: παρά (para, across or beside) joins a form from βαίνω (bainō, to step). Disobedience becomes a crossing, set against the practice of instruction.
ALSO GROWS
parabainō: to step across, transgress
παραβαίνω
It expresses the action behind being a breaker.
bēma: a step, a place of stepping
βῆμα
It keeps the image of a step concrete, making the breach a crossing rather than a vague failure.
περιτομή
peritomē
GROWS FROM
τέμνω
temnō
to cut
“circumcision” in this verse is peritomē. The word names a cutting around, a physical mark. The verse shows that this outer cut cannot carry its meaning by itself when the life attached to it crosses the instruction.
ALSO GROWS
peritemnō: to circumcise, cut around
περιτέμνω
It names the action that produces the bodily sign.
tomē: a cut, incision
τομή
It reveals the concrete act beneath the religious marker.
THE PATTERN
A visible covenant sign cannot carry its meaning when the life attached to it contradicts the instruction it represents.
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.THE THREAD
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.The same word, περιτομή (peritomē, circumcision), returns, now joined to the heart. The bodily mark opens onto an inward reality, showing why the outer sign alone cannot settle what the verse calls circumcision.
