This verse in the King James

King James wording
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

The spirits can occupy a territory, but they still have to plead with the one who holds authority to send them out.

A force can press on your life without owning the ground it occupies; it still answers to authority beyond itself. The spirits plead with Jesus not to send them outside the region, revealing that their presence is not self-governing.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

Whatever has settled into my life has the right to stay. This verse reveals that occupation does not equal ownership.

ἀποστείλῃ

aposteilē

GROWS FROM

στέλλω

stellō

Send, dispatch; combined with ⁨ἀπό⁩ (apo, from or away), it forms a verb for sending away or dispatching.

“send them away” in this verse is aposteilē. The verb carries the sense of dispatching, and the phrase adds ⁨ἔξω⁩ (exō, outside): the spirits ask not to be sent outside the region. The same word family gives ⁨ἀπόστολος⁩ (apostolos, messenger or one sent), connecting the authority to send something away with the act of sending someone forth.

ALSO GROWS

apostolos: Messenger; one sent

ἀπόστολος

This related word names a person who is sent with authority, showing that sending is a movement directed by someone beyond the one sent.

apostolē: Sending; commission

ἀποστολή

This related noun makes the verb’s underlying idea visible: a sending proceeds from a sender with authority to direct where something goes.

Authority over what harms a person is shown in the power to remove it and restore what it grips.

He sends his word and heals them, and slips them free from their pits.
Psalm 107:20 · SDVThe sent word reaches people in destruction and brings healing and deliverance.
And all were stirred, so that they asked among themselves, saying, "What is this? What new teaching is this? With authority he commands even the unclean breaths, and they hear and respond to him."
Mark 1:27 · SDVJesus’ authority is visible in unclean spirits obeying his command.
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to heal diseases.
Luke 9:1 · SDVAuthority over devils and disease is given as power that counters what afflicts people.
And he called the twelve to himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over the unclean breaths.
Mark 6:7 · SDV

The same Greek verb, ⁨ἀποστέλλω⁩ (apostellō, send or dispatch), describes sending the spirits away and Jesus sending the Twelve forth. In the next chapter, those he sends carry authority over unclean spirits.
